Jo

Today’s post is a bit different than usual because my heart this week has been focused on someone very special and truly selfless, Jo.

We lost our sweet teacher Jo on Monday, and it just didn’t feel right to write my typical Finding Five post this week, so I’m sharing a Jo inspired version.

For those of you who don’t know, I’m in grad school studying Occupational Therapy.  Our program is very small and therefore very tight knit.  Losing someone who was such a big part of who we are has been incredibly difficult but has also been such a great reminder of how one person can touch so many lives.

In honor of our Jo, I’m sharing a special version of my Finding Five post today.

Jo truly knew how to make a head wrap a fashion accessory, and we got to surprise her with our support one day in class! She loved this, and it’s such a special memory that our class will always treasure.

A group of us got to take a trip to Philadelphia in March for our national conference and dressed up for one of the events one night.  We got to spend some extra time with Jo and our other teachers outside of school on this trip, and I’m so thankful for these special memories!

One of the biggest components of our program is what we call fieldwork, which is where we are able to work under and learn from an OT in a one-on-one setting for a designated period of time.  Finding a place for all of us to complete this is a BIG job, and Jo did a fantastic job at giving us her all to help us have the best experiences possible.  She was truly selfless in doing everything in her power to make this possible for us and went above and beyond for each person in our program.

This post doesn’t even begin to encompass everything that Jo was as a person, but it touches on how she impacted my life.  She showed me what it meant to be selfless and compassionate and always had a positive attitude.

Jo meant so much to so many people, and she is so missed.  Keeping her family and friends in your thoughts and prayers is a great way to honor her and will be so appreciated.

We have so much love for our Jo.

xoxo
